On World Tourism Day, celebrated on September 27, the Ladakh government declared that the Siachen base camp is now open to domestic tourists.

The Siachen glacier is considered the world’s coldest and the highest battlefield. The opening of this base camp will not only allow travelers to experience of the rugged landscapes of this beautiful destination.

In the presence of Ladakh MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, the inauguration was celebrated by flagging off the first group of visitors to the Siachen base camp. Tashi Gyalson, Chief Executive Councilor of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council in Leh, propelled the event.
