Canada visa in India: High Commission orders additional slots for biometric appointment at VACs
In an important update for international travellers seeking Canada visa in India, the High Commission of Canada in India has ordered additional slots to book biometric appointment at Canada Visa Application Centres (VACs) across India. Effective October 1, more slots will be available to book online to ease the process to get the Canadian visa ahead of the holiday season.

Travellers must have proof of a negative Covid-19 molecular test from the approved Genestrings Laboratory at Delhi airport taken within 18 hours of the scheduled departure of their direct flight to Canada.

Sharing key update for Canada visa applicants in India, VFS Global informed that customers who are unable to book the desired date at their preferred Visa Application Centre location are recommended to book at an alternate VAC location after cancelling the current slot. In a Twitter post, VFS had shared information about additional biometric slots. “As per the instructions of the High Commission of Canada, effective October 1, 2021, additional slots will be available for all customers to book a biometric appointment at Canada Visa Applications Centres (VACs) across India,” the visa facilitator stated in the tweet.

All travellers, regardless of vaccination status, will still require a pre-entry COVID-19 molecular test result taken no more than 72 hours before departure.

Earlier, Canada had lifted the ban on direct flights from India after a gap of more than five months. Travellers must have proof of a negative Covid-19 molecular test from the approved Genestrings Laboratory at the Delhi airport taken within 18 hours of the scheduled departure of their direct flight to Canada from India. Passengers who travel from India to Canada via an indirect route still need to provide a pre-departure negative Covid-19 molecular test result from a third country before continuing their journey to Canada.
